This mornings high tide was washing cars, bins and people around the carpark like kids toys. The councils sand removalists will be busy again come next week moving the tonnes of mineral rich sand out of the carpark. The old boys braving the pouring rain cleaned the beach of all rubbish before I got down but the bin is a good 100 meters from the SLSC deeply buried in sand. I was actually happy that I could just walk around as the rain had backed off and it gave me a chance to go check things out.
The waves were still pumping and I think a good foot or two bigger than yesterday. The westerly was howling, fanning the thick lips exploding on the perfect banks in Currumbin. I heard Burleigh was smoking, Snapper was happening and Kirra was barreling BUT I don’t think there were better waves on the Gold Coast today then here in Currumbin. There were some tow teams coming and going but the waves that I saw come through with no-one on them were INSANE!
The northerly is here now and will be for a few days but looking into next week and there will be another big swell coming. All the boys will be here getting ready for the Quik Pro so lets hope the sand stays the same and everyone gets more barrels!
