It’s so nice to be on home turf for Aussie day! Being away a lot I do miss seeing Australians being Australian! Over there you see all the bad press and not the good. They portray it as an alcohol fueled melee of drunken, racist violence! Reasons to change laws and add more coins in the coffers… Well, This Aussie day was nothing like that! It was sun, beach, good people, great times and inflatable rafts. MC from Valley Eyewear got an idea and blew it up (excuse the pun) into what I can say was the most bloody Aussie day I’ve had! Ever! The snags were sizzling. The beers ice-cold and flowing! The sun out and water warm! The good vibes from each and every person I spoke to was top-level! It’s what this day should be about and at the Estuary in Currumbin it was exactly that! I think the highlight of the day was when the police (20 of them) came to, ummm, do I don’t know what. All the crew grabbed their cans and went into waist deep water and continued breaking the ‘no drinking in public’ law, wallowing in the shallows listening to the hot 100, joking, laughing and being merry just meters from the thick ticket books waiting to be scribbled on! Legendary!!
It made me proud to be Australian.
